Content Filtering

What it is?

Content filtering is a software program looks through and filters content that comes into the system from another network. This program also ProTects against users going into non-work related sites. This program is able to filter through the usage and give a report on the browser usage

What is does?

A content filter looks through the content and based on the set rules will reject mail coming in that may have abusive language, it also blocks certain sites that may not be useful in a work environment.  Examples of these sites would be game sites, gambling sites and porn sites.

How it works

A content filter, filters through content that comes into the system before forwarding them to their destination. Anything that may not fit the criteria of content allowed is rejected and is not forwarded. It also filters out any unnecessary content such as viruses that could in turn cause harm to the computer.

Benefits.

Acontent filters reduces the risk of viruses and other unnecessary content that may come into the computer. Employee productivity also increases, as they will be able to focus on their work and not be able to access into useless sites. Last but not least bandwidth reduction is also increased.

What would happen if you do not perform content filtering?

Lack of the content filterer will result to low employer productivity as the employee will be able to access to unnecessary site which take up time that they should have used working and instead are visiting this websites. This also would increase lack of system integrity. Risks also to exposure from viruses will increase.
